Ann Adams

Occupation: Service Manager

I have lived in Somerset, specifically Taunton, for 21 years. Having studied Law and Accountancy my intention was to pursue a career in the legal profession, however I was poached from university to work in the Trustee department of what was then the Midland Bank, a position that fulfilled my interest in both the Law and Accountancy. Following this initial start I then had various occupations as a civil servant (Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council) and in Insurance (Swinton and Western Provident Association) before joining Somerset Governor Services (as it was known then) in 2005 starting as a senior administrative assistant to becoming the service manager for SSE-Governance Services (as it is known now) supporting governance boards in Somerset and in North Somerset. I practice what I preach as I have been a governor for a Primary school and am currently a Trustee for a Multi-academy Trust in South Somerset with two secondary academies in the MAT. My personal interests are reading, walking, travelling, music and eating out.

Hollie King

Occupation: Chair of Trust Board

Hollie has been involved in education in Somerset for 20 years. Working initially in a small rural primary school on the Blackdowns, she moved to County Hall to join the Local Authority’s Educational Development Service and then to Somerset Governance Services, providing advice and support on governance to maintained schools and academies across the county.

She became a governor at Blackbrook Community Primary School in 2010 and served as Vice Chair and Chair over a period of eight years. During that time she has been commissioned by the Local Authority to work as an additional governor at a number of other schools in Taunton, providing advice and support on governance. Hollie also writes and delivers training courses on a range of topics on behalf of Somerset Governance Services.
